Difference Between a Mobile Site And a Responsive Site

In recent times of advanced technology, most companies have realized the need to attract their target audience or customers and to keep them by leveraging on websites built by a web design agency and other online tools to maintain their market value as long as they can boost their visibility to reach them. Company and business CEOs are aware of the essence of creating a positive, sustainable presence for their customers.

And to reach this goal, they devised every means to grant access for their services to be made available on all kinds of technological devices. Providing their services and registering their presence with the potential clients, creating easy access through the comfortable use of Desktop devices, tablets, down to mobile phones for each individual.

With the rate at which digital marketing is expanding, it should drive every website owner, business, or company CEO to making their contents visible on mobile phones or every other kind of device. Your contents must be seen, accessed, and used by anyone through any available device freely and easily. Making your site accessible smoothly and friendly by any user’s choice of device.

So, in building their websites, the web design agency develops the websites so that it could be easily accessed with any kind of devices, including various sizes they may come with. All these have been worked out to salvage or continuously guard the interest of these customers. Mobile sites and responsive sites have played a significant role in ensuring the continuous reach to customers with various services at the comfort of the kind of device in use. However, there are lots of differences between the responsive site and the mobile sites.

Although some businesses are thrown into a dilemma when choosing between the two sites, we’ll clearly distinguish between these tools shortly. This article focuses on the contrast between a mobile site and a responsive site.

Before we begin to strike out their difference, let’s learn what each is created for and how they work.

Mobile site

A mobile site is a site created by any web design agency as a separate version for a desktop website. Still, it is optimized to serve automatically in a mobile phone or smartphone specifically, developed uniquely to suit smaller devices and screens and designed with its features permitting specific operations and viewers restrictions.

Responsive site

On the other hand, it is developed or designed by any website agency to provide an optimal viewing experience for you. It can navigate between different device sizes of screens with minimum adjustments, scrolling, panning to each side within a wide range of devices from a desktop device.

Read and think about these differences between mobile sites and responsive sites.

Flexibility and breaking point

In designing a website, a web design agency ensures that it is designed with flexible grids to it into the different devices and should have at least three breakings (the extent on a page at which the information can reach and brought downwards to continue on the next line)as the common devices used differs in screen size.

Mobile sites are designed with limited flexible grids for specifically smartphones screens, other handy devices like tablets and desktop screens. Breaking points for Mobile websites are built for the same kind of devices and may not go beyond that. Some images may not flexibly fit mobile phone screens or show up on their actual sizes, causing lagging in the device. Elements of the pages, including links, swift scrolling, sensitivity, or touch screens, may have slight limitations when operated on a mobile phone.

An essential part of responsive sites is that they’re designed with very flexible grids to fit all kinds of screen devices, from the giant desktop screens to the least size screen in mobile phones with more than three breaking points adjusting the layouts efficiently. All elements of the work pages, image flexibility appearing in their actual sizes without cutting at some point, links are very visible and clickable, touch or sensitivity responds swiftly without causing any lagging. Responsive sites are mobile-friendly, consistent information is maintained across devices, more proficient tracking analysis as much as it conserves time.

Compatibility for access

Mobile sites have less compatibility because of the unique URL they possess, different from the regular sites. It makes it impossible most times to use multimedia or fit other devices making room for inconsistencies. This limits the quality experience a user should have and restrains access to your websites from anywhere (different devices) even though it is easily accessible, friendly, and faster only with mobile devices like smartphones.

Responsive sites are more compatible because it is not limited to a particular URL, encourages multimedia much more comfortably when it comes to updating your websites and redesigning sites from scratch, creating new pages and uploading articles and blog posts.

Display

Mobile sites display in a one-column format on mobile phones or devices. It is relatively fast but may not adequately handle big complex contents or tasks as the case may be.

In responsive sites, display on a desktop is shown in a three-column format. On a tablet, you have a two-column format and one-column format on a mobile phone. They can be slow most times but handle complex tasks and contents efficiently. Switching to both horizontal and vertical positions to fit all kinds of screens is navigated swiftly.

Optimization and Google ranking

Google increases the ranking of responsive websites because of the high traffic it pulls due to broad access given to users to receive complete and comprehensive information with optimal services through different mediums. Responsive sites are well optimized; google understands this site’s friendliness and highly interactive nature and how it caters mostly to its customers’ needs with a satisfactory customer experience. Therefore, these sites are ranked highly and are profitable for businesses.

Mobile sites are optimized sites with access restricted to only mobile device users that have limitations in providing a good customer experience; therefore, google ranking these sites cannot be as much as it does to the responsive sites. However, these sites can increase search ranking on the various search engines.

Choose

This largely depends on the kind of experience you want as a website owner or web developer. This covers the type of company or business you run, your type of potential client, and your total budget. It will be an excellent decision to create just for mobile sites. But for the sake of wide reach, faster and convenient operational experience, and friendlier websites, a responsive website will be of great advantage.
