What Are the Most Common Health Problems for Men?

Everyone’s health is different. What may be bad for one person may not necessarily be bad for another. When it comes to the difference between men’s and women’s health; however, things get a little more predictable. Some of the most talked-about concerns are:

● What can cause some of the most common health problems for men
● The 5 most common health problems for men
● Some things you can do to prevent these issues
● Why certain health issues are more common in men than they are in women
● Physical and psychological health dangers for men

An Overview of Male Health Problems

You don’t have to be a doctor to know that many of the health problems that women face aren’t the same as the ones men face. Still, there are common health problems that seem to affect men more than women. For instance, the suicide rate among men is 3.6 times higher than it is in women.

This suggests a disparity of levels of anxiety and depression between sexes. Anxiety and depression are examples of the types of psychological problems that men face. Make no mistake about it – there are serious mental and physical health problems that men should look to avoid.

Keeping with the same example of anxiety and stress, it may be helpful to meditate. You can also try to withdraw from high-stress situations to preserve your mental health.

Of course, male-specific problems are having to do with reproductive organs and urinary tract systems. On the other hand, there are common health problems between men and women that tend to manifest themselves in different ways.

For example, heart disease causes more fatalities in both men and women than any other health problem in the United States. While most men who have heart disease experience a sudden and dramatic event because of the condition, most women live with mild symptoms for years without experiencing a cataclysmic change like a heart attack.

Many people feel that this disparity is due to the relatively higher levels of stress men experience. This higher stress can be the result of greater financial responsibility, male performance anxiety, mental and physical trauma, or a lack of communication.

Men experience health problems differently than women for the most part. So, what are some of the most common health problems for men?

1. BPH. BPH stands for benign prostatic hyperplasia. It’s a condition that swells the prostate up to an abnormal size so that urination becomes difficult. It can cause frequent visits to the bathroom, urinary tract infections, bladder problems, and even erectile dysfunction. BPH is a very common problem among men. Health authorities estimate that 50% of men between the ages of 51 and 60 have this problem. That number jumps up significantly for men who are 80 and older. Unfortunately, there is no known preventative care for BPH. Talking to your doctor or specialist remains the only way to treat BPH.

2. High Blood Pressure. Blood pressure problems sort of go hand in hand with heart disease, which we discussed earlier. High blood pressure affects a large swath of the male population in the United States. It can lead to cardiovascular problems and heart attacks.

High blood pressure can be the result of eating a poor diet or not getting enough exercise. Again, high levels of stress can also negatively affect a man’s blood pressure. Keeping yourself at a healthy weight, getting regular cardio exercise, and eating a diet that includes a lot of fruits and vegetables can help prevent high blood pressure.

3. Low Testosterone. This is another health problem that is exclusive to men but also very common. The male body stops producing a high level of free testosterone as you approach middle age. It can cause a lot of problems like chronic fatigue, lack of sexual interest, weight gain, and compromised sexual performance.

Low testosterone can be effectively treated though. Using a quality testosterone booster and altering your diet may help. One of the popular testosterones boosting supplements is Maxoderm but many over-the-counter supplements may be able to help with low testosterone.

4. Premature Ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is the inability to prolong sexual climax long enough for both partners to be sexually satisfied. While it may be embarrassing to talk about, it is a very common problem among men.

PE can be prevented and managed. There are several home remedies for premature ejaculation such as l-arginine, tantric exercises, and Kegel exercises to strengthen the pelvic floor. In any case, though, it’s important to talk to your doctor if you are experiencing premature ejaculation as it can lead to more serious sexual problems.

5. Kidney Stones. Kidney stones are small, solid masses that form in the bladder or urinary tract. They can be extremely painful to pass naturally. They usually form when you don’t drink enough water, have too much salt or sugar in your diet, don’t get enough exercise, or if you are unhealthily overweight.

Kidney stones are an especially poignant health problem for men as they are twice as likely to develop them than women. They can be removed surgically via a variety of different procedures. Besides, sound waves can be used as a treatment for dissolving the kidney stones inside the body.

Final Thoughts

It’s essential to stay aware of these common health issues for men. It’s also important to know how to treat and prevent them. Drinking plenty of water, getting good exercise, eating fruits and vegetables, and using the best testosterone booster for men are all examples of ways you can stay healthy as a man.

However, if you are experiencing any type of health issue, it’s more important that you consult with your doctor as soon as possible.
